Privacy Policy

1. Overview & Commitment

PortFoliQ ("Platform", "we", "us", or "our"), operated by PortFoliQ, is committed to protecting your personal privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we process it, how we safeguard your information, and your privacy rights when using PortFoliQ.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you directly provide to us, as well as data automatically gathered during platform usage:

a. Account Registration & Auth Data

When creating an account, we collect your full name, email address, password hash (encrypted), and profile picture URL. If you choose Google Social Sign-In, we receive your Google ID, name, email, and avatar image from Google OAuth.

b. Portfolio & Profile Content

Information entered into your portfolio editor: role title, bio summary, location, skills, work experience details, education background, project descriptions, live URLs, GitHub repository links, social media profiles, uploaded avatar photos, and uploaded PDF resumes.

c. Visitor & Candidate Analytics Data

When visitors view your public portfolio page, we log page view counters, referrer source URLs, user-agent browser strings, and anonymized timestamp logs to provide candidate analytics in your dashboard.

3. AI Resume Import Processing

PortFoliQ provides an automated AI Resume Import feature to help users populate their portfolios quickly. When you upload a PDF resume:

  • File Storage: The uploaded PDF file is securely stored via our file hosting provider associated with your account.
  • AI Extraction: Resume text is extracted server-side and submitted to third-party artificial intelligence models solely to parse structured sections (skills, jobs, education).
  • Data Usage: Third-party AI APIs process this text in ephemeral memory to return structured JSON data. We do not sell your resume data to data brokers.

4. How We Use Information

We use your information strictly for legitimate operational purposes:

  • Operating, customizing, and serving your live public portfolio pages.
  • Sending essential account security emails (such as One-Time Password OTP verification).
  • Processing Pro plan subscriptions, invoices, and promotional coupon redemptions.
  • Routing custom domain names (e.g. yourname.com) to your portfolio.
  • Delivering recruiter contact messages and candidate inquiry leads to your dashboard inbox.
  • Preventing spam, abuse, malware, and platform terms violations.

5. Public Portfolios vs. Private Data

It is important to understand the distinction between your private account details and your public portfolio content:

Private Account Data

Your password hashes, authentication session tokens, internal billing history, Razorpay payment IDs, and dashboard settings are strictly private and never publicly exposed.

Public Portfolio Content

Any text, skills, experience items, work samples, avatar images, and contact links you publish on your public portfolio page (e.g. portfoliq.in/username) become publicly accessible on the web.

6. Payment Data & Razorpay

Subscriptions to PortFoliQ Pro (₹99/month or promotional pricing) are processed through Razorpay.

PortFoliQ does not store credit/debit card numbers, CVVs, or UPI PINs on our servers. When paying, your financial credentials are entered directly into Razorpay's encrypted checkout interface. We receive and retain only non-sensitive transaction tokens (such as Razorpay Order ID, Payment ID, amount paid, and subscription timestamps) for accounting and access fulfillment.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We partner with trusted third-party cloud infrastructure providers to operate PortFoliQ:

  • Razorpay: Payment processing and invoice checkout.
  • UploadThing: Secure cloud file storage for uploaded avatars and PDF resume files.
  • Anthropic (Claude API): LLM processing for automated resume parsing.
  • Resend: Transactional email delivery for OTP verification codes.
  • Neon PostgreSQL: Encrypted cloud database for account and portfolio data.
  • Vercel: Web application hosting and anonymous web performance analytics.

8. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

PortFoliQ uses essential HTTP cookies and local storage tokens to keep you logged in securely and remember your theme preference.

We do not use intrusive third-party cross-site advertising cookies.

9. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard technical safeguards, including HTTPS (SSL/TLS) encryption in transit and database access security controls at rest.

Your portfolio data is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you delete a portfolio or your account, your published portfolio pages are removed immediately from live web servers.

10. Your Data Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you hold rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access & Edit: You can view and edit your profile or portfolio content at any time in your dashboard.
  • Export: You can export your portfolio information into an ATS-optimized PDF resume.
  • Deletion: You may request complete account and portfolio deletion by contacting us.

11. Children's Privacy

PortFoliQ is intended for professional developers, job seekers, and adult users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
